It's a G512LI asus rog laptop, when i turn it on the keyboard lights flash red then turn to white (something it has always done) then when i'm asked to log in the lights turn off. So i just did a windows update for my laptop.

Then found out about fn f4 and that worked but it seems to go off after a certain period of inactivity, probably to save power but it's hard to see the fn F4 keys in the dark when it goes out. at first I thougt it was broken drivers because it would go off on windows log in.
