In Retribution, even moreso than the other races, they took a hit to their lategame power in favor of an oppressive early and midgame. Chaos is probably IMO the lesser of all the human evils in Warhammer I've played Chaos since I had Dawn of War I, the original, and they were instantly my favorite due to the models, crazy lategame power, high firepower and nice adaptability midgame.
My favorite races currently are Chaos and Eldar.
